I think my secondary IDE channel is kaput. I turned on my computer last night after getting home from work, and i got the new hardware found message. So I check it out, and the name of my dvd burner is all messed up. I then checked the bios, and everything appeared to be in order, I tried uninstalling the dvd drive in the device manager and rebooting, i uninstalled the secondary IDE drivers and rebooted...all to no avail. So I switched the dvd drive to the primary channel and my hard drive to the secondary channel to see what that would do. Then the hard drive name was all scrambled and the dvd drive name is fine. NOTE: whichever was plugged into the secondary channel was inoperable.
Needless to say, I had two hard drives and two dvd drives...the two hard drives were on the primary channel and the two dvd drives on the secondary channel. So right now i have my primary hard drive and a dvd drive on the first channel with nothing in the second channel.
Has this problem occurred for anyone else? I tried searching the forums but couldn't find anything. Thanks!
