So my hydor l30 pump is a total POS. it keeps leaking from the intake and after screwing around with it trying to make it not leak i finally ended up cracking the intake blue part/hose connection. suggestions on how to fix this damn thing or it is hosed?
does anyone use the l30 as a submersable? I'm thinking about building a tank for it perhaps outside my computer. That would solve my leakage issues. Is it quieter or louder same type of suction etc?
As far as fixing it to run in line, I suggest you use some plumbers goop around the leak and the crack. It won't look too pretty, but it will seal everything up nicely. 🙂
plumbers goop? I'll google that. I honestly don't care 2 twits whether it's purty or not ; ) I'm going to put some effort into getting it out of the box and perhaps doing a dual radiator setup. I know if i run it submersed it'll heat the water a bit too and I'm not too excited about that.
Or Ehiem, those germans can manufacture some quality stuff. My 1250 Ehiem has been running non-stop for 3+ years now. It's mounted right next to my hd too so if it was leaking I'd know 🙂.
I hear nothing but good things about the Eheim quality. But they're a bit pricer than the hydors. (i now see why.) for hte life of me i can't find a replacable impeller cover.
Thanks for the note on the iwaki's. Here's a good link on pump info that i recently found.
