We are visiting Portland at the end of March and I am looking for a decent Family hotel for about $100 per nite. The last time we stayed in some overpriced Boutique Hotel on the West side where the parking and service were awful! I don't like the Airport or the Hollywood/Hooker district. We stayed at a Holiday Inn near the Rose Garden that was nice about ten years ago, but the name has changed on that property.

Any suggestions from my Portland peeps?

3 in the Rose Quarter come to mind:

- Red Lion @ the Convention Center (IMO your best bet)
- Shilo Inn Rose Quarter
- the one that used to be the Holiday Inn you stayed at...Ramada now maybe? I can't remember what it became.

Anything that's not a total sh!thole on the west side you're going to pay a premium for (as you well know).

Thanks, I am also looking into Doubletree Hotel at Lloyd Center and Holiday Inn Portland Downtown each are about $130 per nite. The last time we stayed at The Westin for $164. Small rooms and the only decent staff were the car valets. The Japanesse restaurant attatched to the hotel was good but sooo slow. Over a half an hour to get a toast and jam breakfast for $7!

Edit: We never stay at Shilo Inns because their owner Mark Hemstreet destroyed the Oregon education system with his Ballot Measure 5. Oregon State University tuition & fees before BM5 were $523 per term, the year after BM5 passed they were over $1500 per term!
