Portland ATers - recommend a first date spot?

Friend of mine down in Portland (male) is looking for a good first-date place. I haven't been around down there enough to make a recommendation. So, anybody with input, please? The only spot I've really stopped in on was a nice French place called the Heathman.

"did you happenstance upon any place that might be suitable for a first date? Suitable being cozy, fun/entertaining, light-hearted, yet also involving just the slightest hint of romantic?"
