Portion of Laptop Screen Dim

When I opened up my laptop I noticed an area of my screen that is unusually dim. The area is somewhat circular in shape, and radiates from the bottom left of the screen (but not the corner). The size of the dim area varies slightly with the display's brightness; at the brightest setting the dim area is roughly 4 square inches, and at the darkest is just a little larger. The center of the dim area is darker than the edges, and the dimmer the screen the more darker the edges are relative to the normal part of the screen.

I used my laptop very briefly this afternoon and did not notice anything, but I suppose it is possible I missed it.

I spent a short time looking on Google for similar problems, but everything I found was about the entire display. Does anybody have any idea what the problem is?

Edit: Well the problem seems to have resolved itself as I was surfing the web. If anybody has an idea of what the problem could have been, I'm still interested.

Edit2: The problem came back as soon as I reopened my laptop. I'm going to let it sit with the display on for awhile and see if it will fix itself again.

Edit 3: The problem fixed itself again after sitting with the display on for about 4 hours. This is kind of strange.

Not even a year yet, 8-9 months. It is an Acer Aspire 3810T. I shouldn't be having backlight issues yet.

It shouldn't, but ... It could.

I have seen LCDs act this way after they were pressed on too hard in a spot... Make sure there is nothing pressing on the rear or the LCD itself when closed.
