Portal2 co-op Anybody Here Play It? (Or Want To?)

I just got to level seven or so on single player but want to see what all the fuss is about with co-op, I hear its pretty fun if you know the person you are playing with.

I am a noob with it (not portal, just the online part) but would love to try it if there are any takers. I don't know how you link up but I'll put my username here in case anybody wants to try it. I'll probably be up for a while tonight, damn norco keeping me awake, otherwise tomorrow would be great.

Steam name: sarmedic

Not sure if that's all you need, I rarely (never?) play co-op through steam with a specific person.

I have been wondering about co-op also. Are the puzzles and story different?
I would think that both players would have to do things simultaneously in order to advance the game.

I am sort of reluctant to play co-op though, since I really suck at the game. I am having to use a walkthrough to get through single player.

Yes, puzzles and story are different. You need to work together to solve stuff and regularly need 4 portals to do it.

hey gorcorps, thx for friending me.

sarmedic, friend me and we can co-op Portal 2 if you still need a co-op partner. I haven't done the co-op yet.

I co-oped using the built in match making system... I exited after 5 min. Kid must have only been 8 or 9 years old.

I guess I'll have to wait a few more years until my son is old enough to complete the co-op campaign.

Coop is really fun and different from the single-player experience. You shouldn't miss it.

I may try it today. I think I'm almost finished with the single player portion, and unfortunately I think it's nowhere close to being as fun as the first.

Do I have some strange setting on that allows me to see the portals I've left behind? Targets on walls? Am I on some beginner setting, because I've looked through the settings but can't find any way to turn that crap off.

Before somebody asks, yes its a legit copy and was purchased through Steam.

I accepted your friend invite satsau, thanks. Remember though, my steam name is SARmedic.

OK, I must be a complete idiot, but I don't see where in the hell you invite somebody to be your friend in my steam account pages.

Anybody?

Look at your Friends list window, should be an "Add a Friend" button on the bottom somewhere.

Nope, looked there. I figured it out though...

You have to search for a name and then when you get to their page you can invite them. Not a very intuitive way to do it, I thought it would be the same way you mentioned and that's why I was frustrated.

Joined the public ATOT group while I was at it and sent an invite to gocorps.

It's also there on the main window. Look for the "Friends" drop down which is between "View" and "Games". Second option from the top is "Add a friend."

I don't see that either, no drop downs in sight.

For the first part, the game only gets "interesting" once you get past the first stage (the re-hash / training feeling ones). The following ones get a lot better.

As to the second part, the seeing of the portals when not looking at them (ie:through walls" is normal). Done for the dumbing down ect that some people need. That or just the target audience on consoles. No way that I found to turn it off.

As to the online part, definitly play it with someone that has not done it before, otherwise, it is really a drag (both in waiting for the other person to "get it" or you could have someone that will not stop telling you the answers (or worse, someone trying to speed through it).

If you sent an invite to "gocorps" then you have the wrong guy
