I need a portable tach that works on 1-8 cylinders, 2 or 4 stroke, with replacement battery. Needs to be the kind that hooks to the spark plug or spark plug cable.

Tiny tach's entry level unit seems out since it has a non replaceable battery that is good for only 5 years. Everything else I've seen has been $85.00 or more and I really don't want to spend more than around $40.00 shipped. I mean, its not like the technology is that complex, so these items shouldn't cost that much to make.

Anyone know where I can get one? I like the PET 1100 unit, but for about $144.00, I think it is way overpriced. Tiny tach makes a TT-20x but still double what I want to pay. I'll use it on jetskis, lawn mowers, and cars/boats.
 
Harbor Freight has a multimeter with a clip on tachometer, but it doesn't seem to meet your exact specs.
