I would snap this up right away, if I could use it conveniently in my car... However my car ONLY has a CD player. Anybody know how I can play MP3's in the car? I'd love to burn all of my favourite songs on one CD...

Aiwa has an indash player, the CDC-MP3, it's on backorder everywhere it seems, Kenwood also has an in-dash, but it's like $650 or $700. There's a few other alternatives that use hard drives but they're rather expensive

Problems with MP3-CD players all around.

The Kenwood won't fast-forward while playing MP3s.

The Genica (this deal) makes it rather hard to find tracks because it just displays the number. Though if you can easily recognize the tracks, and they're in alphabetical order, you can find a particular track pretty fast.

I thought there was a problem with the Aiwa, but I don't recall what it was. It supports ID3 tags though, which is awesome. Crutchfield is supposed to be shipping a batch tommorow (oct 6)

I got a genica a while ago and have been happy with it. Can use it to play MP3's anywhere, even in car or on home stereo. Carrying around a 10-CD holder with you means you essentially have a portable 100-CD changer.

Check here to get a free car kit. Not sure if it still works but it did a couple weeks ago.

Bad link... when you get there do a search for mp3 and compgeeks offers a free car kit.

Sorry about that chief.

It seems no one has commented on the Philips Xpanium.

It's a $200 player from Circuit City (perhaps elsewhere), but it's the first one that just WORKS. Of 500 mp3s that I've burned and played on it (RW CDs, 80Min CDRs, overburned CDRs), I've only had 1 or 2 mp3s that have had problems playing. Even CDs "coasters" from failed burns still play up to the point where the burn died.

It's expensive, but it works and pretty well at that. If you're serious about mp3 CD players, take a look at that.

The accessory deal at compgeeks is no more but they have dropped the price to $89 for a limited time. My Genica WORKS as well, costs less than 1/2 of the Phillips and comes with a one year waranty (same as Phillips). Well worth the cost. I know the Phillips is supposed to be better but not $100 better.

I love Genica, got it for Compugeeks as well, and guys hwo didn't get the car kit deal, don't be upset too much, it's VERY low quality stuff, and the headphones are pathetic(one is mono!!!!). They did include CD-holder with 10 80 min CDRs though. Excellent gadget!.
