I need one. I don't have an oven or range. I need a range. I'm looking at single burners. Needs to be of decent quality and lots of control for temperature.

Experiences and best one you can find for a decent price? Also, I would like it if it included one of those metal plates that transfers heat to non-induction-cooktop-loving surfaces. (Aluminum pans and such I think do not work with induction, yes?)

correct. Why do you care if it's induction or not? You can get a decent single burner 1300-1500 watt for only about 30-40 bucks.

Induction ones are smaller and higher quality it seems. Space is of much concern and so is quality. Induction is quicker too.

Any ideas where to get good reviews on these things? I'm looking for a place that has them listed and then is like, "this is best, then this, then this, et cetera"

Eh. It seems I have mostly aluminum cookware anyway... I guess I might not be able to use induction burners. Sad.

A lot of people with gas burners disagree. Induction is good, but you can't do certain things with it still.

Induction cooktops are much better than straight electric, but are still very very inefficient when compared with gas.

Induction is the most efficient. It is more efficient than even gas. An induction stovestop can boil water much quicker than gas, and has greater temperature control than gas.

In Induction around 85% of the energy used is transformed into heat, with gas around 50% is.

You misinterpret. How efficient is creating the electricity first? Not that great. The overall efficiency of any electrical appliance is not as good as with a gas appliance.
