I use firefox at home (desktop), at work, and on my laptop. I use each of those computers equally and find myself constantly needing bookmarks I've saved on another computer. I'll have to set up my bookmarks three times for them to remain consistent.

Is there a tool/utility that maintians your bookmarks online so that you can access/download them to your browser...that way no matter what computer you are using you will have your most updated bookmarks.

An analogy would be how AIM saves your buddies on the server, so it doesn't matter where you log in - its always your most updated list. I'm curious if bookmarks could be saved somewhere online and you could access anywhere.

hope that's clear.

well, if you are working at home it might not be that out of control to suggest that you create a system that uses a remote login so that wherever you sign in, you are opening a profile saved on a server that holds on the same files.
might be a bit of work just for bookmarks but i feel like there would be tons of other uses for you depending on your business.
an slightly easier way to do it would be share your bookmark files over the network and import them. still would be a little hassle every time but might save some time for you.

There's a firefox plugin that will synchronize your bookmarks using an ftp server. This is good if you have a publicly available server and you're constantly making changes to your bookmarks. You configure it to optionally pull down the latest bookmarks when you start firefox and optionally publish the latest bookmarks when you close firefox. But it can be a bit of a pain if you have a lot of NAT firewalls because ftp doesn't play too nicely with nat without extra configuration, and firefox's ftp client isn't all that brilliant. Unfortunatly, I don't remember what it's called and I don't think I've used it since the .9x days so I don't know what it's status is.

If you only need to sync them infrequently, copying the bookmarks.html around by hand might be a possibility.

Edit: here it is: http://extensionroom.mozdev.org/more-info/booksync

Thanks, I'll try these options. Maybe keeping an updated copy of bookmarks.html on me is not a bad idea.
