Does anyone know if anybody makes a battery pack that you could wear around your shoulder or something that would power electric lawn equipment (like a trimmer, edger, blower, etc)?

If not, I'm inventing it :)

err, they make cordless mowers and trimmers... with a gigantic battery sitting on it. Your back can't handle that much battery :)

I really need one of these too. My electric trimmer can reach within 10 feet of the end of my yard with a normal extension cable, but I need two cables to get to the end, which makes it a very big pain.

I wouldn't be that hard to take a lead-acid 12v battery from a car and use an AC inverter to power something.

You wouldn't even need that. I used an APC 650Va battery backup and got 25 minutes out of it with my trimmer. Something a little bigger with a backpack would work great!

Note: many 110VAC motors can run on 110VDC. Circular saws, angle grinders, most series-wound tools are just as happy with DC as with AC. This does not apply to induction motors. Don't hold me responsible if you blow up your trimmer, but I'd probably try it. You can even get away with a lower voltage.
