Portable air conditioner question...

We bought a Sunbeam KY-25/Y 9000 BTU portable unit for our home and it ran very quite for 5 weeks. It had been shut off for 2days and last night when we started it back up the compressor was very loud and it won't go away. Might anyone have a clue as to why this might be happening. I found nothing on the web or sunbeams website knowledge db.

Doesn't sound good.. no pun intended.

May be a faulty unit.

Loud hum with some clicking/clacking noises indicated icing in the compressor.

Loud hum/buzz indicated that something is loose.

nothing is loose checked it all. how can the compressor be de-iced?
