Have just bought a new Acer Travelmate and experience some weird problems. As long as I use the computer everything works fine, can run for hours. When I do nothing (just boot into Windows desktop), however, and let it display the desktop it will sit there for approximately 15-20 minutes and then some error messages will pop up.

At the same time several loud tones (not memory beep codes) from the computer are heard and an error message box saying "Unidentified error" is displayed. When I click ok in the message box, the same box will re-appear many times (more than 10) until I get the last one deleted.

I should also add that the computer is brand new so I have nothing but Windows and the necessary drivers on the computer. The computer has not been connected to any wired or wireless networks this far so I rule out any virus/trojan or other malware issue.

Do you have any experiences of this problem, please let me know?

Sounds to me like whatever screen saver you have configured is corrupted. Right-click on the Windows desktop screen, left-click on Properties. Left-click on the Screen Saver tab, then left-click on the Preview button. If you get the same error messages right away, then the problem is definitely your screen saver and you either need to re-install it, or change to a different one using the drop-down arrow to the left of the Settings button.

Also, click on the POWER button and try changing all the settings to NEVER. Also, disable hibernation in the power settings and see if the problem persists.
