Port Forwarding or Port Triggering?

I'm not new to port forwarding, but am about to migrate from an old Netgear RT314 router to a Microsoft MN-700.

I do not know how to determine whether to use forwarding or triggering for a given application/device. Sounds as if triggering is preferable if it works well for a given application.

The applications/devices I need to configure include:
Steam Dedicated Server
Starcraft Server
Diablo Server
AIM
X Box Live

My Netgear enabled me to set forwarding to a specific internal IP address (computer). Not sure if I can do that with the MN-700. Ive read that if more than one comp on the network tries to use the same port there can be conflicts (such as when 3 comps on my network are all using AIM?)

Any advice would be appreciated.

Port Triggering is for application that get input through one port and answer gets back to you computer through an other semi-random port .

E.g. Application using Outbound port 4000 from your computer and ther application would reply on another port of its choice.

The application instructions should tell you if this is the case.
