Port forwarding not working to get Apache through (among other apps)

I've set up a web server on my machine, and I'm trying to get it to be accessible through the Internet. I set up a static IP; it works perfectly. Then, no matter how what I did in my router's (D-Link DI-624 on Windows XP SP2, no software firewalls) config, I still couldn't get through. I even turned off the firewall completely for my computer via the DMZ option: still nothing! I'm completely stumped. Does anyone have any ideas as to what's going on? Thanks for the help.

Are you trying to access it from within the network, using the WAN Ip address?
If so, that won't work in most cases. You'll need to get somebody outside your network to test it out.
Another problem you may face is most ISP's don't allow webservers, and block those ports.

Skyking is quite right about not being able to TEST port forwarding from inside your own network, using many SOHO routers. Usually, though, if your ISP gives you a static IP address, they allow web servers. Not always, though.

I *think* he is telling us he assigned the server a static LAN IP........ but I'm not sure either:p

Turns out the problem was with the ISP - port 8080 works fine. I had a brief issue though, my Ethernet controller stopped working 0_o. This happened with both onboard controllers and it only went away after I enabled them to boot from ROM in BIOS. Even after this, my network speed gradually climbed up from 0 to gigabit after I booted into Windows. (my Linux also did not get Internet) What a strange problem, hopefully it doesn't return. Thanks for the help.
