Port Forwarding Friggin Nightmare

This is so unbelievable. Short story is, after 12 hours of paid support through Support RIX, 4 hours with TWC support, and 4 modems there isn't a single person in these groups that can get ports forwarded on my Linksys E4200 router.

I am running a fresh copy of windows 7 with all updates and no anti virus installed. I purchased a Motorola ARRIS SURFboard modem 200 series DOCSIS 3.0 so I have no double router issues using the TWC moden/routers in bridge mode.

I have no problem setting a static IP or configuring port forwarding. It doesn't matter if I have windows firewall on or off. I can't get an outside port checking website that can verify an open port.

I am trying to play Battlefield 4 using the port forwarding request they provide.

I am literally ready to strangle these (supposedly) support people. TWC says it isn't anything on their side and support RIX says it isn't anything on my side. I don't think either one of them have a clue how to troubleshoot a problem like this. Clearly.

IF I run a local port check program on my computer it will confirm the ports open. Ok, Fair enough. They tell me the outside port checking utilities will say the port is closed unless I am running the program that uses these open ports.

SO I run the game and check and it always says port closed. One of the ports I want to open is 80. It has to be open to get internet anyway but it still shows closed using the online port checking websites. How can this be?

I think its an issue with the ethernet card blocking packet traffic but what do I know.

Anyway, I am at my witts end. Can anyone help me resolve this. I will wash your car, give you one of my kids, harras your boss, whatever it takes. This is just killin me.

some isps block port 80 so you can't run a web server.

just forward port 80 to 8080

also after port forwarding try port range forwarding as well

i assume you are using what's my ip .org to check the ports.

can you take a screenshot of your routers pages and post them here?

"One of the ports I want to open is 80. It has to be open to get internet anyway"

As master_shake_ said, you only need port 80 open if you are hosting a web server, which it sounds like you are not. You don't need to open port 80 to get out to the internet.

Not sure exactly what the 'support' people have had you do, but the forwarding will be done on your router, and should have nothing to do with the modem.

Have you seen a guide like this? http://portforward.com/english/routers/port_forwarding/Linksys/E4200/Battlefield_4.htm

Connect your PC directly to the modem and see if your ports are open. If not, then the router isn't the problem.

From Port Forward:

Forward Ports 80 on the Linksys E4200

We will list a series of lines here that will show you exactly how to forward the ports you need to forward. Battlefield 4 requires you to forward the following ports: 80,443,3659,9988,17502,14000-14016,20000-20100,22990-23006,25200-25300,42127. Go ahead and enter the settings shown above into the Single Port Forwarding or Port Range Forwarding menu.

I am loading the pictures of my router settings to my website so I can post them here. It will be a few minutes. Can't find a place to just add them in this forum

I have 11 pages posted in three replies waiting for moderator approval. Put them on Imgur. Worked perfect

Just to catch up, I connected the computer to the modem. No router. I keep getting ports closed or filtered when I check through 6 different port checking sites. Leads me to think their is some kind of block in the ethernet card software.
Its a Realtek PCIe GBE Family controller with a driver date of 8/26/2014. Latest one I could find.

Is Windows Firewall disabled, or have the ports been forwarded through the firewall?
