This is going to sound ridiculous but it can't hurt, have you tried resetting the modem & router? I'm guessing that it's one of the things that the support folks have tried but just making sure. I find it odd that you have to do port forwarding at all since I haven't had to set it up on my Asus RT-N16 router for BF4. Once you post a pic of the port forwarding page of the router hopefully we'll be able to spot something.

Just to be sure, have you tried to play the game after forwarding the ports? Can you try now with just the modem?

I think the problem is you're using port range forwarding for single ports, that could be throwing the router for a loop. Try taking out the forwards that use just a single port from the ranges and have them on the single port forwarding setup instead. Oh and for the port 80 forward just have port 80 forward to 8080 instead.

I can play the game but it will crash about every other map. Been doing it for two weeks now.

I have reset the modem, router, and PC after changes so many times I have lost count.

I used a port tester downloaded from PCWinTech.com v3.0.0. It says the ports are open. When I close port 80 it says port 80 is closed. My problem is nothing outside my network can confirm an open port. It always states port closed.

I agree. I tried to separate the single ports from the port ranging but had no difference. The Support RIX guys said it didn't matter so I left the single ports on the port ranging side. Doesn't mean its right, just what they told me

I have also tried to check all of the ports listed with the port check websites but no luck finding any open ports

If the game is crashing, it sounds like your PC has problems, and that would have nothing to do with opening ports or not.

I can play the game locally for hours on end. I have played through all of the campaigns without a single crash.

With the PC connected to the modem, and the game running, check for open ports. If they're still closed then there must be something wrong with the modem. This post from another forum for a similar problem may provide some insight.

We have tried an ARRIS router modem, a Ubee router modem (both in bridge mode) and are now using a motorola modem. All with the same problem. We checked the ports during game play and they all say closed.

The problem persists with multiple modems, and with or without the router, then the problem has to be with the PC or TWC. Do you have another PC or laptop you could try (even if it can't play BF4)?

I agree with you. I have the very same results checking for open ports using my laptop on an ethernet connection to the router and directly to the modem.

While I was looking around the internet for a fix I found this post. He was having the same problem I am and he is on the same cable provider in NC. I am not sure what this fix is though. I can't find the same problem in my adapter and I don't know what fix he is pointing too as the link doesn't point to a specific resolution.

I got it figured out, I feel somewhat stupid now.
I looked at the list of items in my Network Adapter's properties, where you go to set a static IP, and I saw Sunbelt Firewall Miniport. Don't ever remember installing it, and there was no other trace of it ever being installed.
Downloaded the removal tool from here:

Everything works fine now.
