Port Forwarding Behind Netopia DSL Modem

I connected a D-Link router to a Netopia DSL modem. The Netopia box is making the connection to the ISP and has a private IP address(192.168.100.1) on the LAN side. The D-Link router gets 192.168.100.2 as the IP address on it's WAN side from Netopia box. Will I be able to set up port forwarding on the D-Link router to forward the VNC ports to one of the computers on the LAN running an UltraVNC server, or will I have to reconfigure the Netopia box to let the D-Link router obtain a public IP address?
