Port forward question (maybe stick IP as well)

I am trying to set-up remote viewing on my surveillance system. I am having to use a wireless bridge to get internet to it. I am going to use a Linksys E1200 on DDWRT to do this. Now the question is how do I set a static address so I can do the port forward? Mainly what to use for the MAC address? The DVR? The bridge? If the bridge how do I find out the MAC address for that port it's using? Please don't say the DVR as I have no clue what it is and it's not on the device nor anywhere in the settings I can find.

I think any network capable device will have a MAC ID listed and almost alwayson the device with the Serial numbers and such. The packaging is also a safe bet.

You would need the MAC of the DVR. It is most likely listed at the bottom or rear of the device. It should also show up on your DD-WRT LAN status page.

I recently did this as well but for a PC running the app for IP cameras. Next month I get to do this for a DVR.

I just did range port forwarding of a single port to the IP address of the PC.

Then I signed up for a free DYNDNS account and now I can go to any browser and check in from anywhere.

It's not on the DVR. I've searched it completely, it's not there. If it's on the list that'll work as well. Do I need to forward for the ports for the bridges IP or just the DVR?

All Port forwarding. and Reserved IPs should be done in the Main Network Router.

The Bridge should be configured to be transparent.

In addition most cameras can be set through their inner interface to have an assigned unique Port and Static IP.

They aren't IP cameras so it's just the DVR. I'll look for the transparent setting in the firmware.

Finally got it to work. It took a lot longer than I would have liked but in the end it worked. The MAC of the DVR showed when it was connected to the E1200 bridge. Took that and set a static IP to that address. For whatever reason it now shows that IP attached to the MAC of the E1200 in the list. Forwarded the proper ports to that IP. Got dyndns set-up and everything is running smooth and I can watch the house from anywhere. Now to put up seven more cameras.....

Now just hoping my E4200 V1 is a lot more stable under DD-WRT than it was before, which is why I switched to Apple routers to start with. But Apple doesn't support dyndns so back to Linksys.
