Port 5800

I have a program from Bentley called project wise, and the tech support guys keep telling me that port 5800 probably isnt open on my server. I have checked the router, its not blocked at all, and is forwarded to my server. i cant seem to find any reference on how to open/ close/ view port info in SBS2003. anyone have any idea on where i can find this?

yes, this may be a mundane, easy question that garners flames and "go to school, no0b!" from many of you guys, but i really need to find the info.

i have a workstation with a link to a project wise server, we can see the files and browse their folder structure. when we rt click to "check out" a file, it gives us a generic error that they are telling us means either the hosts file is corrupt or that the port 5800 isnt open. If they relied on port 5800 to be open for transfer only, i could understand this. the simple fact that we can see and browse their files tells me the hosts file is fine. this is all thru a web browser btw, forgot to mention this.

Does SBS 2003 have the similiar firewall that XP has? If so, you may need to add it to allow connections on that particular port.

It does, but I'm pretty sure it is turned off by default. I can tell for sure on regular Windows 2003 Server it is turned off by default.

I would suggest the OP tries what n0cmonkey says and go from there.

thank you guys, i will try it. didnt think of the firewall, last i remember it was turned off in lieu of another that i use.
