I'm glad they've realized the Boxster looked too much like the 911 and it was eating into its sales. Of course, what are they going to do now, "ugly up" the Boxster? :D No, they have to make the 911 even better, woohoo!

You've got it wrong. It's the other way around;) The 911 looked too much like the Boxster. The Boxster came out first, the 911 is based off the Boxster's platform, it uses a variant of the Boxster's engine, uses the same dash, etc. In fact, from the front doors forward, it IS a Boxster :D

Finkle is Einhorn? Great, ruin the movie for me! ;)

Anyhoo, my favorite matchbox car when I was a kid was my 911, man I loved that design. I guess even the most 'timeless' designs have to change eventually... I wonder what it was like at Porsche when they first started discussing the design change (or Boxsterilization :D, as it were)?

They just keep getting less and less agressive looking. I liked it when it was more boxy. Which is saying a lot since I like most cars swoopy looking.

the 911 was boxy? or are you refering to the front engine one that looked more like an MG or a triumph than a porsche? with the verticle tail lights... i can't even think of the model number...

The ONLY Porsche that can be considered "boxy" is the 914

What are you, new? What about the 916?

OK, so it never made it into production. But if you're going to nitpick MY posts, well... :D

No, it also has flared fenders, bigger wheels and a steel instead of a targa top. :p

Of course, now we would call that a "trim level" but it has a different model number! It's a different car, I tells ya! :D

<< And how do you explain this, NFS4? ;)

Whoops, broken link... lemme fix... there we go. :)

It's still a 914 ;) A GMC Syclone is still a GMC Sonoma. A BMW M3 is still a 3 Series.

It's still a different car, though. Is an LHS the same as a 300M? Does a Stratus = Sebring? Kind of, but I'd still say they were different cars.

But a 300M doesn't look just like a LHS and a Stratus doesn't look just like a Sebring. The 916 looks like a 914 with a boob job. The same way the 911 Turbo is to the 911 Carrera.
