Porsche's revised '02 996 911 Carrera gets face-lift and more horsepower

You've got it wrong. It's the other way around The 911 looked too much like the Boxster. The Boxster came out first, the 911 is based off the Boxster's platform, it uses a variant of the Boxster's engine, uses the same dash, etc. In fact, from the front doors forward, it IS a Boxster

Anyhoo, my favorite matchbox car when I was a kid was my 911, man I loved that design. I guess even the most 'timeless' designs have to change eventually... I wonder what it was like at Porsche when they first started discussing the design change (or Boxsterilization , as it were)?

It's still a 914 A GMC Syclone is still a GMC Sonoma. A BMW M3 is still a 3 Series.

But a 300M doesn't look just like a LHS and a Stratus doesn't look just like a Sebring. The 916 looks like a 914 with a boob job. The same way the 911 Turbo is to the 911 Carrera.
