FRANKFURT, Germany -- Luxury carmaker Porsche AG said Wednesday that it is recalling more than 18,600 of its 911 Carrera series to replace the exhaust pipe.

The Stuttgart-based company said in a statement that the 18,627 cars being recalled were part of the 911 Carrera S and 911 Carrera 4S lines and were produced between April 2004 and October 2005.

Porsche said the welding seams on the exhaust pipe could weaken, causing it to ultimately fall off. The company said there were about 30 known cases of that happening, but that there were no injuries reported.

The 911 Carrera S, with a stick shift, retails for about $81,400, while the Carrera 4S, with a manual transmission, retails for approximately $87,100.

The company's cars come in four different models, including the Boxster, the 911 series, the Cayenne sport utility vehicle and the Carrera GT.

Despite the recall, shares of Porsche gained 1.5 percent to 628 euros ($757.62) in Frankfurt trading.

Check the total market capitalization, the price of 1 share of stock doesn't mean much. All that means is that they don't split the stock.

1 share of Berkshire Hathaway is valued at ~$90,000.

He's right. acemcmac was pointing out that Porsche has five models, not four. The reporters left off the Cayman. The mistake that you guys think that he made was that he was mixing up the Cayman with the Cayenne, which he wasn't.

The Cayman is a cool car. Do they want to car to fail though by calling it a "Cayman"?

That's right, never split.
