In line with the "new 914" brief, it could feature Volkswagen's 2.0-litre turbocharged, direct-injection engine as in the Golf GTI. R&T speculates that this could be tuned for 230bhp or so

Such a model would give Porsche - keen to expand its model-range in all directions - a rival for the Mazda MX-5, Opel GT/Pontiac Solstice/Saturn Sky, lower-end Audi TT and so on.

Horay, another car the poseurs can ride around in.

Park it next to the other poseur-mobiles, the Mercedes C-class coupe, the BMW 325, and the Jaguar X type.

I won't bash the new Lexus IS because I think it's a great quality car and I'm considering getting one.

Yeah that's real "hot." Looks like a VW Beatle with lowered suspension.

It's "Beetle," and who do you think designed both of them?
Much longer hood with much less arc to it, integrated instead of bolt-on fenders, curved windshield that the Beetle didn't have until '73, no running boards... I could probably go on, but you don't care. In general you've shown yourself to have very poor taste overall :p

And do you know who designed the Beetle? :p Who has poor taste now?

It might be fun if they keep the weight down and it ends up with somewhat of a good aftermarket.

I have a Boxster and an old 911, and the Boxster is just a little too heavy for its own good. But it's my comfortable car, so I won't be gutting the sound deadening and such like on the 911.

Something little and lightweight that you could put a bigger turbo on and chip might be pretty fun. I just don't know if it could be done with a good price point and still keep the quality and resale value up.

I drove one. Mediocre performance, but delightfully ugly.

I owned one for a while (I liked it:) ). Handling was great.
Slam a VW bus engine in a small sled with Porsche suspension and 4 wheel disk brakes. for the early 70's it was amazing. sorry you didn't like it.
