Had one for last weekend. 2013 Cayman S.

Car was a blast to drive but very scary at the same time. The blind spots are insane. took it up to 140 on i95 without an issue. My buddy leased it and said take it out kill it and if you crash it no biggie.
I did not like the full stop take off acceleration but anything above 20 and it is a rocketship.

Would def take it over an M3. I got a ton of looks and it sounds amazing. Tires only last 15k though. He was on his first set at 15k. Took a corner and went completely sideways. He said with grip on the tires we would have made that corner no problem.

Would I ever own the car? No. Blind spots were too much for me and I would constantly get tickets. You can't keep that thing under 80 even when driving on regular streets. It takes nothing for it to get that speed.

This is sort of off topic but if I actually got one for lets say $25k w/50k miles... I'd probably have to sell it once real life hits in a few years (28 now).

Would it depreciate greatly if I only put on ~15k miles? Would basically be 3-5 years older and have 65-70k now, assuming I didn't wreck it in anyway.

It would have already taken the brunt of the bad depreciation.... But yeah it'll be worth less and continue to depreciate at a reduced rate. That being said a well taken care of Cayman isn't going to be a 5k car any time soon. I would expect that you won't get hosed too badly!

I like them. I'm not sure I could get past the RWD aspect.

An S3 could be had for much less and have AWD and be just as quick.

Some of us consider awd a problem in a drivers car.

Its easy to drive with snow tires. I do both. My drivers car is 2wd and my winter beater is a g35x

For a driver's car, I prefer acceleration over a slight handling difference. My STi was much more fun to drive than my Miata.

Now I remember some first impressions when I bought my CS. TBH, I did not ever even sit in one before I got it. In fact, I never even went to a Porsche dealer. I bought it from a Porsche dealer on the internet and I depended on just reading reviews and looking at pictures. It had just won Driver's Car of the Year and I loved the way it looked. At the time, I was making so much money that I paid it off with like three months worth of work, so I didn't think it was worth it to waste a day test driving it. In hindsight, it was pretty stupid.

Here are the annoyances I found with the car:

- There is a protrusion in the footwell near your left foot. I find it really annoying.
- I never use the front trunk, because you have to fiddle around with the latch and the front hood feels flimsy when you close it.
- The rear trunk is difficult to close unless a window or door is open.
- ONE stitch broke on the driver's side door handle. Couldn't bear looking at, so it cost $800 to replace that part. There is no possibility of repair.
- There is a loud fan next to the passenger side. I don't know what it's for and when it's triggered, but it is annoying and long.
- The PCM is backwards. For example, when you are making a selection, they'll crowd the only two choices in a corner as opposed to spacing them out, so it's easy to make a mistake when you're driving and trying to hit the button out of the corner of your eye.

These issues are pretty minor compared to how great the car is otherwise though. It imbues driver confidence like no other car I've driven.
