Porsche announces Cayenne SUV specifications **UPDATE**

NFS4

No Lifer
Good gawd, it's still ugly though 🙂

The German manufacturer?s first foray into the SUV market, the Cayenne will be available in both S and Turbo trim when it goes on sale in the United States later this year. Both versions will be powered by Porsche?s new 4.5-liter V8, which produces 340-hp and 310 lb-ft in normally aspirated S-spec, 450-hp and 460 lb-ft in Turbo form. Porsche claims the Cayenne S will run to 62 mph in 7.2 seconds, while the Turbo makes the dash in 5.6 seconds.

Go to Porsche's website for pics.

A turbocharged SUV?! Yes please, I don't care what it looks like(although I like it anyways).
That'll rip your dear Cooper a new one. 😀

They haven't killed anything, this is an SUV that will hang with an M5. (well, almost... The M5 is a little quicker than I remembered. 😛)

Viper GTS

I heard about Porsche's SUV a couple of months ago, and even now I still can't believe Porsche is making a SUV! I thought they were all into high-performance sports machines...

At least the Cooper doesn't look like ASS (and it'd still beat the S version 😀):

I like how low it is, compared to other SUVs. It's more like a Forrester than a Land Rover, so it should be at least reasonable on high speed maneuvers, and not tip at the drop of a hat.
Granted the Cooper looks pretty nice, I think I'd rather drive a ultra fast ugly car, than a slow nice looking one. Relatively speaking. 🙂 That's just me though, I really should use your sig NFS4. hehe

Well they have to make up for your 10 years of not hitting it some how, assuming you own the car for 10 years.

No.. The Hyundai Santa Fe was a copy of the old RAV4 IMO.

The funny thing about this Porsche's styling is that it will most likely look just as fresh 10 years as it does today and all those other SUV's will look like old trucks.

I'm glad you carry your trusty crystal ball with you at all times 😉

Seriously though, this new Cayenne is trendy just like all of the other SUV's out there.

Mine's pretty damn unique looking IMO. But then again, I'm biased.

I always thought of the Xterra as being a baby Land Rover Discovery...especially with that raised roof.

Cadillac has a twin turbo in the works.

I guess I can see the similarities there. At least its parents are good looking and unique as well 🙂

?! Nice! I'm a bench racing whore sometimes, so the word "turbo", big power specs, and fast magazine numbers give me wood. 🙂

For comparison:

BMW X5 4.4i -- 4824 lbs
BMW X5 4.6is -- 4824 lbs

Hehe...no wonder the Cayenne needs all that HP and Torque...just to get the darn thing moving! 😉 Even my dream car (M3) has to go on a diet now! 😛

LOL, yep the M3 has grown into a fat slob as well.

M3 Coupe -- 3415 lbs
M3 Convertible -- 3781 lbs

I mean damn, the new '03 Viper weighs less than the M3 Coupe 😀
