Porsche 911 GT2- Newly released video

See, this is what annoys me about Porsches ? they all look the same.

When and if you see this car on the road, unless you?re a full on Porsche enthusiast, you?re not going to appreciate what you?ve just seen.

I though that was the point, like the S600 or S65 AMG, it's "stealth wealth" for people that really have the money and the horsepower and don't really want all the attention associated with it.

that was possibly the most boring supercar video of all time. what the hell is wrong with germans?

If you care about image, Porsche won't cut it. Get a Bentley. Get a Lambo.

Porsche is about the driver. The driver appreciate the car...thats all it matters.

Exactly. It is about phenomenal engineering...not showboating.

It's harder to tell from videos or photos, but it's really easy to notice when you see a GT3 or GT2 in real life. Photos and videos don't do a car justice.

I saw a white GT3 a little while back. It's easily noticable. If a persons main concern is maintaining an ostentatious image while driving then they don't deserve to own a GT2/3.

the Ruf video was worse. 30 seconds of turn signals, wtf?

Don't know about the rest of you, but I quite liked that video...what an amazing car.

Really 996GT2? Why is that?

That video was really dull - the most exciting moment was seeing him strap on his Sinn 956 at the end - nice watch!

The car is nothing short of incredible, however.

Well, I do admit that the part before the track scene could be dull, but I think they were going more for an "artistic" portrayal of the car rather than an all-out trackfest to showcase the car's abilities. That'll of course come later (Top Gear, anyone? 😉)

So I think that their intention for the video as a teaser/advertisement was fulfilled...it did revive my interest in the car since I hadn't heard much about it since the initial spy photos and tentative specs were released some time ago.

Edit: I just saw some tentative prices for the GT2...and the estimated price of over $240,000 (before the inevitable markups for a car such as this) could be a real detractor for people who would actually be saving money on buying one of many competitive cars in this price range.

Wow, I thought it was in the $180-190k range, base MSRP.

The last-gen GT2 had a price in that range, but according to pre-release sources the new model's German price is ?159,100 (before VAT), so US pricing should be well over 200k.
Several sources have also stated that this car is to cost more than twice as much as the GT3, so a price in the 240k range seems like a reasonable estimate.

Hopefully Porsche will tone the price down to be in line with the pricing on the last GT2 though.

European pricing has always been way higher than US.

Autoweek said $191,700 was the official base price.

all I can say is wait five years and then pick it up for half price. Just like ferraris!

Except by then it will either be a beat up track car, or going for a lot more in pristine condition in someones garage, or still in a dealer's show room with a ridiculous markup.
