He won a popularaity contest because Americans truely are become stupid thanks to TV, and the Presidential race turned into American Idol. It didn't matter about policies, it was about feelings and empty promises.
We already see the lies about not taxing the "poor" Americans more when they want to increase "sin" taxes and have, and are now talking about VAT. a flat tax across the board is going to affect the poor more than it will the rich. Taxing energy companies more, is a tax on the people that pay for it. Obama just proved that he is the best liar out of the group we had. I didn't really care about the other candidates other than I knew I wasn't going to vote based on how "cool" someone was.
The reason Ron Paul didn't get the Republican pick, and the reason you don't like him is that he tell the non sugar coated truth. The truth is scary and you can win votes by scaring people with the truth. You get votes by promising people the world.
