For those who do not grocery shop, and are unaware of the wonders of pork butts...
$1.89/lb for fresh butt!

butt is another name for ham.

pork butt is ham, pork shoulder is picnic ham...

pork butt roast is uncured ( fresh ) ham. This convention for naming is not always followed.

look a little, pending location, fresh shoulder roasts 79 cts/lb, or less.

cured picnic hams 5 to 7#, 99 cts/lb is reasonable & size is good for small family groups...
