Can someone tell the name of a really good, FREE popup killer that doesn't leave spyware itself? Apparently, that's becoming the trend with some spyware software. Or, any suggestions on how to config my system to not recieve so much? I currently have PC Cillin and Spy bot on my system now.

Thanks

To be at piece with one's inner self.........Sometimes you just have to put the boot to it!

Download avant browser which is a webrowesr that does that and more, or Proxomitron proxy ad killer, or look for a good "hosts" file. Three different ways to eliminate ads/popups. I do all 3.

I used to use POW, it worked fine. Now I just run Zone Alarm, great firewall and it blocks all pop ups:D

Using mozilla is a great way to reduce the amount of spyware that makes it onto your PC, and block all popups. The browser is developed by hundreds of people who hate spyware and popups ;).

I use adshield from adshield.org

however, there new version is crippled, i have the old version and a massive block list for banner ads, Private Message me your email and i will email it to you, its only about 1.4MB big and ill throw in my block list for banner ads, plus it works better than the google toolbar at getting rid of pop ups. the old version should work just as good as the newer one and its not crippled, as it used to be freeware.

Proxomitron. Much more than just a pop-up blocker and works with any browser.

Mozilla, Firebird, Firefox, Opera. Pretty much any browser but IE can do it out of the box.

When I used Zone Alarm while authoring web pages, it kept on swallowing some of my graphics and it took me a few hours to figure out what was wrong :|

Just a FYI. BTW I use Firefox, so.. "pop-ups what?"

I would recommend Firefox as browser but if you insist on using IE then Google Toolbar is not bad.

As has been mentioned, Google toolbar is great.
Or as also has been mentioned, use a non-IE browser like Firefox :)
