Popup Ads that unmute your speakers

I have noticed lately that some websights have ads that are so annoying that they will unmute your speakers when you try to turn the sound off. I had one ad from one of the cell phone companies do this. I hit mute and the sound went off for a few seconds and then came back on. I did this over and over and it always turned the sound back on. Do I have a virus or does this happen to other folks as well?

Unless this is some new (mis-)feature in Flash Player 15, I would scan for malware.

I've never run into Flash-based ads that can manipulate the OS-level volume mixer in Windows 7. (They can manipulate the application's volume, but not system-wide volume.)

Run Adblock plus extension in your browser and hopefully never see an advert again. As for current situation, definately check for malware, as it sounds... dodgy.

I've never heard of PUN, but PUP stands for Possibly Unwanted Program. Usually refers to adware or information gathering programs that aren't quite malware in the usual sense, but are considered by many to be "undesireable."
