popular science or popular mechanics

I have subscriptions to both. Which reminds me, I have to renew...

Edit: each has its own advantages. I'd say Popular Mechanics probably has the upper hand in terms of raw information

I used to read PM until I realized that some people with really wild imaginations were writing most of the articles.

both are greatly over-rated, although there are some decent DIY in pop mech. There are quite a few easy to read magazines out there that I'd recommend well before pop-science. Discover, Scientific American,...
The only time I wish I subscribed was when I'm at home and have to, uh, use the bathroom for more than 30 seconds. (need some reading material!) Otherwise, my school's library has several worth reading, and I have access to subscriptions online via my school for dozens (hundreds) more. I could pick up the popular science in the library, but I've found that quite often, it's not worth my time. It's too... sensationalism?

oh yeah, in addition to both publications being very over-rated, they're also quite biased.

I prefer PopSci, but I think the quality of their magazine has gone way downhill. Even though not exactly the same I prefer Wired Magazine as a source of science/techology stuff.

Wired is an absolutely awesome magazine and I highly recommend it.

I prefer and subscribe to Popsci. Popmechanics went downhill fast post-9/11 when they showed how to survive your worst fears on the back cover. What a crappy mag.

Popsci used to be good, but somewhere around the line it degraded into a "shiny gadgets for AOL users" type of magazine. I canceled my subscription three years ago, and I don't miss it much.

popsci, but they are only good on certain things. I don't trust them on anythning computer related after they gave the computer award of the year to the 915/925 chipsets last year, which used technology too new to be worth buying cause it was too expensive.
