pop-up icons!

Sporatically I have been receieving new unwanted icons on my desktop. They are promoting links to sites that eliminate spyware, kinda ironic. Does anyone know how I can get rid of these annoying pop-up icons? One of the sites that showes up is for netpalnow.com and I have tried to find and elminte any adware-programs with adware 6.

The only thing I can advise is trying SpyBot, Search and Destroy. A program similar to Ad-Aware, but some say it's better. Give it a shot.

I've also heard spybot is the most powerful one but I also heard that it gives alot of false positives and has been known to nuke an XP system or two, so be careful if you're running XP.

Spybot works well in conjunction with ad-aware 6. Picks up alot of pr0n and tracker cookies that ad-aware doesnt. Also when set correctly can dig out unwanted spyware, which I can almost definitely assure you, is somewhere on your hard drive.

just remember to set it up and READ the instructions when doing it. It will save you alot of headaches if you do.
