Pop Up Ad Killers

What programs do you guys like best to prevent pop-up ads from coming up?

There seem to be so many out there, I'm not sure which would be best to use. Since there is so much competition, please let's keep it to the freeware ones.

Thanks!
Lex

Man I would love one of these didn't even know that they existed. Now if only I could install something on my phone to eliminate telemarketers 🙂

How about FREE ware! To turn off ANY pop up boxes that come up when you go from one web page to another, turn off Active Scripting on your browser. This also kills the infamous "multiple browsers creations" when going to a web page. Some web pages need Active Scripting so all you do is set your browser back to default and you're good to go. 😉

Lex:

JakeBurton is absoultely right, simply go to:

tools --> internet options --> Security --> Customer Lever --> Scroll Down and "SCRIPTING Enabled to OFF" and Voila!!

This will SURELY stop mouse hijacking.

Now the caveat: When this is enabled, You will NOT be able to enjoy features on many websites
that take advantages of java, the most notable example being that you'd not be able to
play Yahoo! Games. You've been warned.

<< I use PopUp Stopper from Panicware. Very simple and good. >>

This one inhibits use of Open in New Window function. Not good.

I've been using Web Washer which blocks many pop-ups and does a host of other things. But it slows page rendering down.

Trying http://spywaresucks.org/prox/ next....

Anyone tried Naviscope?

Yes, I've tried it and deleted it. At first it looked like a good prog. Untill that moment when I tried to connect to a secure http site (https).
It started bugging with the login-scripts....so I removed it again :Q

I personaly use the windows hosts file (have over 9000 ad servers redirected to localhost) to block ads and the cookies that go with them.
I have also heard that Ad-Subtract is an excellent program.

If you click on a link with a Open in New Window function you just have to use "ctrl" + "click on the link" and the new window will open just fine.

CyGho,

If you have Popup stopper running, right click and pick "open in new window" nothing happens, not even when CNTL is held down.

But...If you left click on a link while simultaneously holding SHIFT and CNTL you can get the same effect (ie the window opens in a new window).

I'm giving Popup another try.
