when i lived in Oregon we use to say Pop and thats the gerneral word. If you said coke, you would get a coca cola

now in tn everyone just says a coke. then they ask kind would you like.

Emulex, I beg to differ...I'm from the South. I've lived in Tennessee all my life. However, I call a soft drink by its proper name... For instance, "Higgins, fetch me a Diet Mountain Dew."

But I do agree...most people in the South do call anything and everything (not including coffee or JD) "a coke".
