Pop isn't simple. I'm not trolling, this isn't a troll post. Writing a guitar song about sitting on a beach is simple. Writing a pop song is like composing an electric orchestra.

Just making 10 seconds of the song can take a fucking week. The pacing, the timing, every little nuance takes time. Not to mention sampling every little detail, and adjusting the synthesizers, and mixing it correctly, and all of the little adjustments that make it sound "samey"...

It takes a lot of money and time to produce a high quality pop song.

Some of you hate it though for being too "listenable"... too fucking listenable... seriously??

What perplexes me, is that if the artist were playing the same song on an out of tune guitar, some of you would fucking love it.

Some people might opine that excessive "production" and the whole move to "sameyness" is what is ruining the pop music market.

Maybe the crappy leveling they do on so many tunes these days is part of the reason. I hate the "loudness" wars.

Take what could be a good song and modefile until it songs like nothing. Why bother with musicians at all?

Maybe its because synthesizing and the artificial beats make 99% of pop music sound like shit?

Maybe its because it shows that most pop singers have no idea how to play any instruments at all and so rely on easy computer generated sound? Also I say "singers" because I can't stand to call them artists, and even singers is a bit of a stretch

Lol, what? Making a pop song is hard? Even if you say youre not trolling, its hard to believe

You lost all your credibility when you compared a pop song to an orchestra, seriously

I like pop music o.o Especially if it's in a language I don't understand ;)

It also helps if the singer can actually sing without excessive audio processing. But if it's catchy, it's catchy. I can't stop listening to Kpop nowadays but I can't stand Jpop. Jpop seems too processed compared to Kpop. Let the singer sing!

Im the opposite, Jpop is the only kind of pop I like... They just have a way of doing melodies with lots of piano and stuff, its awesome

I specially like songs used in anime ops/eds, like this one:

I hate it because it all sounds the same, follows stupid fads like teenagers change clothes, and seem to have a massive following of idiots.

Thanks, I'll take my Classic Rock of your Modern Crock anyday.

I just wish the pops singers had some genuinely real singing ability. Most of the songs that come out today have almost not range to them. They are dang near monotone.

Take, California gurls for example. I swear that song has at most 4 different notes all next to each other. Most our music is coming from people with no musical ability.

Um, Pop music = Popular Music. By definition, it can not "suck".
