POP Email password hack question -Got it, never mind-

Lemme fill ya in on what is happening....

I have a corporate email account that the IT idiot set up, and I need the password for it. I've been waiting long enough, and I need to get into it from a different computer ASAP. I used a trial version of a password recovery program at the plant, but it only got the first six letters, and it looks like there is more because the password don't work (it was a backwards name that happens to have six letters in it, there probably is a number or something else on it.)

Is there a program that I can use to scan it? I don't have to worry about getting in trouble doing it BTW, I'm in the process of getting him fired. 😛

{Edit}

I got it figured out. Thanks.

Easier said than done. I spent two weeks trying VIA e-mail and voicemail, only to have him come through when I was in Minnesota and set it up on a computer in the Fab shop. Where it is, is useless to me.

What's the platform? How you'd crack/brute force the password is obviously contingent upon the platform.

There are pop3 password brute forcers out there for those who are ignorant enough to allow an infinite number of login attempts. There are countless dictionary-based password crackers as well depending on the platform.

Have him fix it. Your impatience is no reason to go around cracking passwords.

It is legit MacBaine, I'll talk to someone on the phone if I have to. I NEED to get into this account so I can get my flight information and a copy of a service report.

No, my reason is I have to drive an hour and a half to the plant to get on that account from where I am at, and I don't have the time. That is three hours wasted I don't have right now.

And yet you haven't answered the question put forth to you by Descartes. Have you tried google? Have you tried calling the admin today?

Windows NT and I already have the first six characters, so that eliminates alot of time.

3 voicemails. Nothing. As for searching, honest to god almighty himself I don't have the time. I was hoping to get a quick way to do it here. I have to leave in 25 minutes to drive to the Pittsburgh airport. I think I know my departure time, but not 100%. I don't need the ticket info, cause you scan a CC in the kiosk for your e-ticket.

This is so DAMN frustrating. ARGHHH. If anyone in the New Castle, Pennsylvania area needs a good IT job, PM me.

GOT IT

I figured it out. Backwards name and the phone extension. Thanks guys. See ya in the forums tuesday. Hasta la pizza.

<--- Has to work labor day weekend.
