Poor signal to one computer on network?

I have a network with just one router hooked up to the cable modem that we have. There are about 6 computers in the house using this router and every one but the new computer I built works perfectly.

The new computer is having frequent disconnects and just poor internet other times. I will put my laptop right next to the computer and it will work perfectly fine, but the new computer to the network will just not work.

I have moved the computer several times and I have changed the wireless adapter on it twice with no change in performance.

Any tips?

Have you tried a wired connection to your router to see if that, too, is unusually slow? Try copying 1 GB of data from one computer to the next using wired connections, measuring how long it takes. I've seen cases where both the wired and WiFi connections are horribly slow on a single computer.

Has that computer ever been hit with malware?

I will try to wire it and see how it goes. What would be the solution if, infact, both wired and wireless are having problems?

No malware. The computer is about 2 weeks old and it has been having this problem since I booted it up, although I can scan for it. Any particular malware program you suggest?

The wired connection seems fine. The problem must be the card? I also tried a Wireless G from US robotics that had the same problem.

That sounds like interference/noise. Make sure other 2.4Ghz sources aren't near the antenna (the antenna is connected securely, right?) and make sure not to "point" the antenna at the AP.

bluetooth, phones, microwaves...keep these away.

Thanks for the advice!

Rechecked everything I am not near any phones/microwaves/ other electric devices, I have put it in multiple spots in the house, doesn't work.

Scanned for malware with malwarebytes, nothing on the computer, it is brand new.

Any other suggestions?

Put the computer in the same room with the AP or just one drywall between them, greater than 5-10 feet away with all antennas on the same horizontal plane like this

Apart from that make sure you are using either the built-in OS support or the client utility. Reboot between any changes, yes...you really do need to do this. Pick one - OS support/driver or client utinilty/driver. You can have only one and if you don't reboot between changes you're gonna keep screwing it up.
