"If I owned a PCI-only based PC would I go for it ? Yes .. without a doubt because this is the fastest and versatile videocard available for a PCI platform. And you should be able to order it on-line for about 70-80 USD which is a great price.

3D Prophet II MX PCI"

The fastest? sure
thye never even compare the geforce to a vodoo4/5 or a radeon pci card. they only compare it to other geforce cards, this is one of the stupidest reviews I have ever seen.

No,it's not great at that price, you can't use the T&L. Well..you can, but the PCI slot isn't fast enough to allow enough data for the T&L,so it ends up being slower with T&L on.

For 35-40$ it'd be a good deal,but I'd rather have a PCI V4.

Yeah I read the review too and I agree it was horrible.

Guru my but!

I'm trying to decided between a throw away voodoo4/5 to get me through the next few months, a Radeon PCI SDR, or a GeForce MX PCI. (I have an i810 MB)

For the GeForceMX I'm trying to decide between the various vendors, Inno3d, VisionTek, Herculees, Creative.

Review was useless, only comparing AGP vs PCI cards from the same vendor.

Of course the PCI GeForce MX is a few frames slower than the AGP GeForce MX. Of course I would get better performance if I upgrade my MB and purchase something AGP capable.

DUH.

Did not need a zillion benchmarks to prove it.

Wish AnandTech or someone knowledgable would do a PCI shootout between the leading PCI "contenders". My dream review would include 32 and 64MB SDR and DDR GeForce MX cards, PCI versions of the GeForce2, PCI versions of the ATI Radeon and ATI All in wonder Radeon, and perhaps the Voodoo4/5 to show what a chipset can do that is optimized for the PCI bus.

I can't find this information anywhere online. If you know of a review pitting the PCI card against each other, Let me know!

the review reads more like a paid advertisement more than a review.

trikster2, I would get a voodoo5 if you can afford it and can get a good deal on one. at this point in time the voodoo5 is still the best pci card if you have the cpu power to work it. also get some more ram if you can.
my voodoo 5 agp works great in my dell p3-800.
