Slightly old article, but still interesting :)

If our President had the slightest sense of irony, he might have paused to ask himself, "Wait a minute. How did I get into Yale?" It wasn't because of any academic achievement: his high school record was ordinary. It wasn't because of his life experience--prosperous family, fancy prep school--which was all too familiar at Yale. It wasn't his SAT scores: 566 verbal and 640 math.

566 verbal/640 math? That hardly qualifies for most State U's these days! Yikes.

1200 is kind of low (well low to go to a good school, but alright in a more general sense...wasn't the SAT different back...wonder what his percentile rank was), but it should be OK for most state schools. I guess it would be really low for out of state people applying to UC Berkeley and others or maybe in state ones applying to the tougher programs.

Well considering average SAT at UC Berkley is 1300 I wouldn't consider a 1200 that low. By the way I am not supporting Bush just pointing out a flaw you seem to be making. Everyone knows why BOTH Kerry and Bush got into Yale and their private colleges, they were of a privilaged class. When their is a wing with your family name on it it is pretty hard for the college to turn you down.
