Poor Mazda 6....dealer gets owned by the wind.

I went out to a Mazda dealer yesterday to look at the new 6 hatchbacks and wagons. They didn't have any wagons, but they did have a 5 door hatch on hand.

One problem. It had an "accident". A few weeks ago the dealer had the car sitting on the lot with the hood propped up and a "Sale" sign stuck inside of it. I guess a nasty front rolled through and brought with it 50MPH winds. It was gusting so hard it ripped the hood off of the car, shattered the windshield, scraped up the roof, and took a chunk out of one of the back quarter panels on the way down.

Ooops!

Said they'd cut me a deal on it when it gets out of the body shop if I was interested.

I'm holding off to look at the wagons though. More competitive pricing and a little more luggage room than the 5 door hatch.

The wagons look pretty good. I wish AWD was an option here like it is in Europe, though.

It would be a nice option. It would really kill milage that is already pretty rough though. I think the V6 only gets 26MPG on the highway :(

I test drove a 5 speed V6 sedan. The clutch was so painless to operate I'd consider owning a 5 speed again.

hmm...I'd be worried if a car's hood couldn't handle 50mph winds. What would happen when you're traveling on a highway at 55mph+? ;)
jk, I'm sure that something hit it or the hood was open and it ripped it off.

I'm finally seeing a few of these on the road (6's that is) and I got a chance to see the sendan, hatch and wagon side by side at the autoshow last week. If I was car shopping today, I'd have a hard time deciding between the hatch and sedan. Good luck!

Oh, and I forgot to mention. I had my hood fly up and smack into my windshield once when I was driving. Fortunately the car was my first and a pos and I wasn't on a busy street. That will scare the sh1t out of you though.

really nice little car.....

Meh. I looked at the 3's. Just not enough car there for the money compared to the 6's.. I can get a V6 wagon for $20k. Much more of a car than the $17,000 4 banger "3" hatch.
