Poor ligting in games? Very dark.

Games like Project IGI and at times Black and White are mostly dark. It needs to be more brighter. I have leadtek geforce 6800 256 card on an asus a8n-sli mobo with corsair 1 gig ram. Anyone can help me fix this problem? I would appreciate it a lot, thanks.

P.S. quick question, if I take out the mobo to check something and put it back in, i wouldn't need to reinstall the os and the stuff on hdd, right. i'm 90 percent sure i'm corect but can someone please reassure me my 10 percent. thanks again.

Can't answer your first question that well cus I own an ATI card. But look for something to do with "gamma" and then turn that up.

No you will not need to reinstall anything if all you do is just take out the mobo.

I'm not sure but when i right click on the desktop it brings up Nvidia's 'Compaq Analog Display", it has all the settings and stuff for the card. basicaly, when I turn up the gamma setting, my desktop is just too bright, to the point where I can barely see. Where can i adjust this setting just for the games, it's not in the game as far as I know. Thanks

I have the same problem. Most games I find myself adjusting the brightness on the monitor. For some reason when I try to adjust the gamma in under the display properties/color/full screen 3D it doesn't seem to adjust when the game starts up. Not sure why, I have a ATI 9800 Pro if anyone has any suggestions.

um, in most games at the video options there is a gamma option

There you go. I usually have to turn up the brightness/gamma on all of my games' settings as well, independent of your display properties.

Well, in the games I listed, at least in IGI I'm positive, there's none. So besides the ingame, is there some method or property to accomplishing this? Thanks

Yes. Adjudt the desktop nvidia settings, play the game, adjust them back down.

Also Google on each specific game, sometimes they have a startup file where you can change settings like gamma even if there is no in-game menu.
