Hi ya'll, as you can see by my # of posts, I'm pretty new here. I saw a couple weeks ago someone posting about performance in jk2. I'm actually getting pretty piss poor performance myself. I used geforce tweak utility and set it to fast settings, then went to the game and used 1024x768 default quality settings without aniso and shaders, ran the timedemo (which is yavin now after the 1.3 patch) and got a wopping 53fps...keep in this mind, this is AA off and aniso off, no vsync or anything. Before I recently formated I could at least get ~70ish. I'm wondering if this is a patch issue. Now, look at my system and tell me what the hell is wrong please?!?

xp1800+ (1680mhz)
kg7-raid w/512mb
Gainward ti4600 (320/730)

This this system, 56fps is absolutely unacceptable. While playing online, there are times the framerates tank into the teens...how can this be?
thx in advance for any help

If the timedemos are different between the versions then there's no way that you can compare the before and after scores. Also the Yavin swamp levels are extremely demanding on every system currently available so don't be surprised if you're getting low scores.

Other than that all I can recommend is that you double check all of your game settings in case they've changed to higher detail levels since you've applied the patch.

If you`re using Win2k or WinXP try installing AMD AGP Driver - Microsoft Digitally-Signed Version 5.33 for your board being it`s a AMD 761 Northbridge, also to get best performance disable anti-virus and anything else you don`t need that`s running in the background before you go gaming.

AMD AGP 5.33 DRIVER DOWNLOAD .

What drivers are you using for the 4600? Alot of people tend to use the manufacturers' drivers which tend to suck. Go to guru3d and get Detonators. There isn't really one version that I can recommend because the Detonators tend to be rather finnicky. What works awesome on my system may not be the best on yours. Just look for the ones that have the super smily face as they are generally the better ones.

BFG is correct, the yavin time demo is far more intensive--I suspect, that the JK2 people wanted to give their game longer legs as a benchmark because it amounts to free advertising. If your grandma's computer can do the timedemo at 100fps, there's either something wrong with the timedemo or you got a cool %@! grandma.
