Poor IE setup or Router?

Hi,

I have noticed recently that when I am downloading Torrents, even at low data rates (20KB/s), or internet radio my browser performance (IE6) is very, very slow. I have done a simultaneous test using ?MySpeed Server? which gives the following:

Download speed: 999kbps
Upload speed: 274kbps
Quality of Service: 98%
Round trip time: 81ms
Max pause: 26ms

Interesting that whilst pages take forever to load the speed test looks good. Do I need to change the setup of Explorer or could it be that my ADSL router, an SMC7404WBRA Barricade, cannot handle parallel data traffic.
