Poor HD perfomance....HELP!

What should I expect as far as avg read times?

Here's my setup:
Asus A7V
Tbird 800 @ 1000
128megs generic PC133
30 gig IBM 75GXP (ATA100, 7200rpm, 2 meg cache)
Inno3d Geforce2 MX
SB Live Value

Last time I ran a system diagnostic (can't remember which one I dl'd) I remember my avg read being around 17-18 mb/sec. Isn't it supposed to be up in the 30 range? Just seems to slow everything down, and I have no idea what it is!

I've got the latest Promise drivers from Asus's website, and i'm running WinME. Just did a recent format and re-install of my OS last weekend.

I do have the drive partitioned out in to two 10 gig partitions and one 9.something gig partition. Does that make a difference?

Let me know your suggestions guys!

Yeah, I was going to try the latest 4 in 1 drivers too, but just haven't gotten around to it yet. Knock on wood!!

But I should be getting better performance, right?

I just dl'd sandra, and will be taking it home today to see what it says about my drive.

I don't remember there being a DMA option, since it is connected thru the ATA100 controller. I'll check again though.
