For all of those out there that know more about monitors than me (thats everyone) -->

I need a decent monitor to use with a new computer that I will be building for college next year, but I want it to be a kickass monitor that looks great with games. Every "budget-gaming pc" article has expensive 19" monitors that are too expensive for my tastes. Maybe if there is a cheap 19" that is good (Optiquest maybe??) i would go 19" route, but otherwise, i guess im looking for a good/cheap 17incher. Thanks for any help. :D

Normally I would recommend a trinitron. But as a gamer and entertainment person on the PC, I would go for size rather than trinitron expense. Hansol have a newish monitor which has got good reviews. It's as cheap a 19" as you get too.

Thanks alot for the replies. Does this "hansol" monitor have a specific model number? Have you heard all positive things about it? One of my worries is that it will be a bad decision to go for a cheaper 19" monitor, because they are either really cheap, or really expensive. Im afraid I will get screwed on the quality for a cheaper monitor. Tell me this: Is it absolutely necessary to go with a 19" vs a 17" monitor for gaming? Does it make it all that better? (Ive been livin with a 14 incher all my life :( )
Thanks for your help guys, I hope to hear back from ya.

Hansol 900P at hansol.co.kr
pcplus.co.uk have a review.

Well, I myself use a 15" trinitron. I love it for reading text and I also sit close to watch DVDs. But gamers seem to like bigger screens, that's why they often use TVout. More "immersive" or something. But, frankly, I don't think 19" monitors are such good value over 17" ones. 17" is as common as 15" new models now, and the price has come closer together, but 19" is still way above THEM. I wouldn't mind a 17" Philips 107S for games, that seems alright, and £100 cheaper than the Hansol. I've seen the philips and give it a cautious thumbs up as it's only a shadow mask (my eyes are very against them).

By the way, if you have to lug that monitor about yourself be warned that those 19" fVckers are bulky and heavy, like 20Kg+. As a student I would prefer the smaller monitor.

If you look around hard, you could find Samsung Syncmaster 950P with pretty good price. I think this model is better than Hansol and Optiquest, even people's opinion is mixed.
