Poor France.... Here's France joke...

AP and UPI reported today that the French government announced that it has raised its terror alert level from "Run" to "Hide." The only two higher levels in France are "Collaborate" and "Surrender". The raise was precipitated by a recent fire which destroyed France's white flag factory, thereby disabling its military.

Insensitive? You bet! Dontcha love it?

That is like saying because Bruce Lee is Chinese, all Chinese people are good at Kung-Fu 😉

A guy walks up to his wife holding a duck. "You see", he says, "This is the pig I have to screw". "That's not a pig", his wife replies. "Shut up", he says, "I wasn't talking to you".

But Napoleon was significantly influential in the development of France as a country. Thus it is logical that the derivitaive culture would also retain some of those values. It's not really any less valid than drawing on WW2 to evaluate France today. And cultural influence often does not follow linearly with time (ie sometimes events that happened far in the past have had much more lasting impact than events that happened a few years ago)

Nope, cultural/religious influence is based on frequency and recency. If the culture is frequently impacted by one thing, say, many Napoleons, then Frances culture would have been more stoic, like the Germans. If their culture was driven by a need to conquer, then they would be much different.

By your logic, Norwegians and Icelanders should be war-mongers that conquer nations because of their Viking heritage. 😉 That isn't the case though, because they have a laissez-faire philosophy which they have been governed under frequently and recently for a long time. Just like the French.

Egypt isn't governed by Pharoahs, are they? 😉 😛

Ummmm, even though Ghandi is a personal hero of mine and he made a great impact. ... How much different is the culture of India from before other than that they are free from Imperialists? There is still a lot of unrest and natural hatred for Pakistan, even though this is something Ghandi outright tried to avoid.

And for MLK, there was much more frequency and recency in America starting from the mid-1800s for the culture to change. MLK was just one person in the cog of this cultural shift. Although he was a great man, too.

haha... but no, as long as people remember its own countries history of violence the people tend to sway away from that violence, as soon as we forget history we create new violence

I agree, but we are talking about culture, not the overall tendencies of mankind 😉

I'm pretty sure that Napoleon wasn't born in France. Quick Wikipedia check confirms:
He was born Napoleone Buonaparte (in Corsican, Nabolione or Nabulione) in the city of Ajaccio on Corsica on 15 August 1769, only one year after the island was transferred to France by the Republic of Genoa. He later adopted the more French-sounding Napoléon Bonaparte.

His family was of minor Corsican nobility. His father, Carlo Buonaparte, an attorney, was named Corsica's representative to the court of Louis XVI of France in 1778, where he remained for a number of years. The dominant influence of Napoleon's childhood was his mother, Maria Letizia Ramolino. Her firm discipline helped restrain the rambunctious Napoleon as a boy, nicknamed Rabullione (the "meddler" or "disrupter").
So really, even France's greatest hero had to be imported.

there's no hatred towards pakistan in india, my ignorant friend...india is cautious of pakistan, but there is no hate...why else was there such quick response to the earthquake.

Don't assume you have everything figured out, cause i can gurantee you that you done. Now before you say something else to justify your earlier, uninformed response, know that you tried to define the culture of an entire country. IF you knew what you were talking about you'd know that was practically impossible.
