So I have gproftpd 8.3.2. On the actual machine according to speakeasy speedtest I am getting 6274kbps download and 7009kbps upload. Yet when i connect to the server and download something the fastest I can get is 28kb/s. I am not the only user this is happening to. This just suddenly happened one day. Any suggestions?

not quite sure what you mean by mirror.

I run the ftp server myself. I have it set up with a name through dyndns. The machine at max only has 3 remote users. But even with only 1 user the speeds are still quite poor.

He thought you were trying to download Ubuntu, not that you were running your own FTP server on Ubuntu.

Try connecting locally is it still 28k/sec?

Speakeasy doesn't necessarily use ftp to test speed. Your internet provider could be shaping traffic and FTP is low priority.
