I've got my 600 oc'ed to 1000 at 1.7v, and i've got an acer 8432a cd/rw, and a dvd player in my computer, both performed very well on my old computer setup, but as soon as i went to the duron and kt7-raid, it takes almost a half an hour to install a game, if it even gets that far! sometimes it won't even fully read a cd. I've made sure the lazer readers aren't dirty, well as far as you can make sure they aren't(blowing in the readers) and all of the cables are hooked up correctly. Maybe i've messed up a setting in the bios? Thanks for the help.

The are only two things I can think of (you didn't mention OS). Check the setting in Windoze, make sure DMA is checked. Check BIOS & make sure the PIO is set to AUTO (you can override to a specific mode if you want to).

Make sure the CDROM/CDRWs are on either IDE1 or IDE2, not the Highpoint IDE3 and IDE4.

I have a burner that will allow me to set it to DMA in windoze but it causes it to tank. really bad. Try changing this not off as an option. (You can always change it back.)
