Your white people remark is just rude. Chinese don't like Japanese either, so what's your point?

I do not see one in the page source of this page, but I have had IE automatically download stuff from webpages. Luckily I use netscape and always get asked when a download starts...

Ramen was a worm that affected redhat machines that would attack vulnerableservices (named I think). If you are a windows user it will not affect you. And I see nothing in my cache (cleaning it just to be sure ;))

I explained what ramen was to my knowledge, explained that I saw nothing in my cache (after mentioning that IE CAN download things for you without letting you know) and mentioned I was going to clean my cache just in case. We are not jumping on your case, just letting you know what happened for us.

Man - I just went into a panic and grabbed my Norton Antivirus 2001 that came with my Chaintech motherboard. Chaintech rocks! :D
So I'm safe, I guess. Phew.

I just saw the message and went into a panic getting Norton in there. Damn that ah heck for scaring us needlessly - unless there's a genuine Linux virus in there!

Can a Linux person confirm?

Well, I'm sitting here with a newly built computer without Antivirus installed yet. I clicked the link. Anyone know a quick check? Running 98SE.

As of now, 00:51 GMT (that's 01:51 BST, 20:51 EDT, 17:51 PDT), I swear that that site carries no virus. It looks like the sort of sh*t script kiddies put up when they crack a Linux server box; you can download cracking kits and some r33l 3l1t3 d00dz use them. The Ramen worm used the same techniques to spread itself. Maybe McAfee saw something in the page suggesting the Ramen worm got to the box, but I don't know what it can be if it did. Anyway, right now, there's definitely no virus there.

As with all network software products, Linux has had security flaws. Most that are found are fixed within hours, with packagers/distributors releasing patches within hours; it's only admins who don't keep up to date who risk script kiddies with their cracking kits getting in. Before anyone starts to flame me about Linux, please note that Microsoft's Windows series of operating systems has been through rather more serious security flaws than Linux, and it's only recently that Microsoft has made any effort to respond quickly with patches.
