Poor 3200 Venice OC!!!???

Ok...following Zebo's quick guide, my max HTT was roughly about 390 (LDT multi set to auto also do i have to keep this multi fixed in order to test max HTT?) and RAM max could go up to 310 MHz Max @ 2.9Vdim and 2.5-4-4-7 timings and with 7 passes or 2 hrs in Memtest86 with no errors....cpu was not stable @ 2.5GHz with vcore of 1.55V (though I gave it up 1.65 or 1.7V)...Prime95 fails after running for 3.5 hrs...is there ANYone here that has same specs as me and IS getting better OCs??? any input would be greatly appreciated.. Please some one help me out here...thanks

set your mult to 10x in the bios.

set your ram ratio to 1:1

try 240 htt... then slowly go up...

you should be good to go with those 4400LE's up to 275 htt at the least...

but 10 x 275 will put you at 2.75 ghz so don't be surprised if you can't hit that though....

with prime95 testing, be sure to run small fft's and not blend test or large fft's... as these tests are used for testing memory more so than stable overclock

....

i have a 3000+ venice lbble 0517 and i'm at 2.8 with 1.53 vcore

don't give up

I know the RAM can take it...Ive tried all kinds of combos, multi of 10x250, or lowering multi and upping HTT but nothing....i guess i got a dud...bummer...but does anyone have any good settings for this system?? thanks

nah ive seen most people with exact same model get at least 2.6 - 2.8 prime 24hrs but i just cant figure out what the problem is with mine

what size should i run the fft's then since I run the blend test???

well make sure everything is secure on the physical side of things. proper airflow, etc. and then try again VERY slowly.

If you still get nothing, well overclocking isn't guaranteed and sometimes you get duds. Either way its a fast processor so don't worry too much 😉

Have you lowered HTT multi to keep it overall not much more than 1000MHz? ie: set to 2x or 3x depending in the MHz speed?

I have done all of that stuff...I was just wondering if anyone had any specific settings (anyone with the same setup) that worked.... but like Shimmishim said, its probably cuz of the blend test that I do in Prime95...i will try small ffts and report back!! 😀

My Venice 3000+ only gets around 2400 MHz at 1.4v at 1.5v it goes around 2500 MHz or so. I haven't really pushed it beyond that, I'm happy with 2400 Mhz at 1.4v.

OMG i was doing 242x10 @ 1.45V and using a devider with RAM to get it out of the question and LDT multi @ 2. Primed for about an hour and it FAILED!!!!!! and this time I made sure it was running small FFTs but nothing....thats it, im selling this piece of crap...🙁

Look at my sig. I had to use a memory divider to get it to work. And it is really stable. The only problem is that my venice asks for more voltage if I push it more. I got this in the AMD Tech Tour.

now that is a very good OCing chip...i just dont know why mine had to be a dud...ive always gotten duds since i started OCing so I guess its just my bad luck 🙁

Are you doing your testing with all other extras, hds, cd/dvdroms, lighting, unplugged? And how is your xp-90 plugged in?

well of course....im no noob man I know what Im doing...i was just trying to get a second opinion from all of you guys.....why do ask that??? and what do you mean how my xp90 is on??

Wasnt implying you were a newb, just easy to miss something as many factors could hold you back. On my first A64 board it just happened to be that when I plugged the cpu fan into the motherboard it wasnt stable past stock, but for some reason with it plugged into the PSU directly I could get 20% out of it. Very likely you just got a dud, in terms of overclocking at least, I doubt its lacking otherwise.

yah...but thats weird, its the first time ive heard someone say that plugging the fan out will give you more OCing potential but after all i think ima have to sell it and try another one....lets hope all luck is with me....thanks for the replies guys...appreciate it...😀

ive gone all the way up to 1.73...i dont wanna go any higher cuz i might fry it....yup thats how lucky i am...🙁

Ouch. Well try to get 2.4GHz stable using a 240HTT x 3 multi with good airflow on RAM and CPU.

i dont think there such thing as bad revision, i think that its just luck...if you get good OCing chip then you are set but if you dont, its as if you have to keep looking for it...thats just me

Wow...it seems that I just needed to try new settings for this thing to work....I have done 2.55GHz prime stable for 8 hrs!!! Im so happy that i got this thing to work....im doing 2.6 right now priming away @ 1.4v....hope this is not the end for this CPU....phew!! thanks for your replies guys...
